Plain talk. Local vibe. Legal enough to count.

Who We Are

We’re LOZlocal — a locally-run business directory and events platform for the Lake of the Ozarks. We help people find cool places, real experiences, and reliable local businesses. That’s it.

Our website is https://lozlocal.com. You’re on it. Welcome aboard.

What We Collect (and Why)

We don’t want your deepest secrets. We’re not here to spy — but like every modern website, some info gets collected so the site works, and so we can improve it.

Here’s what might be gathered (by us or the tech tools we use):

  • Contact info you submit (name, email, phone)
  • Basic device info (browser, IP address, screen size)
  • Page behavior (clicks, scrolls, time spent — mostly to figure out what people care about)
  • Cookies (not the chocolate chip kind — the browser ones that remember stuff for next time)
  • Form submissions (if you want to claim a listing, message us, or join a newsletter)

If you don’t fill anything out, we don’t know who you are — and we’re good with that.

Tools We Use (The Standard Stuff)

Like just about every website you visit, we use:

  • Google Analytics 4 – shows us what pages people visit and how long they hang around
  • Microsoft Clarity – helps us see how folks use the site (like heatmaps and clicks)
  • HubSpot – handles forms and emails so we can reply like humans
  • GoDaddy – powers the servers behind the curtain
  • Spam filters – keep the bots out and the lake people in

These tools set cookies and may collect usage data that their companies use to improve ad systems, personalization, or reporting — but we’re not using your behavior to serve personalized ads. That’s not our game.

Comments, Media, & Embeds

  • Leave a comment? We grab your IP and browser type to fight spam.
  • Upload an image? Strip out GPS data if you don’t want people to know where that photo was taken.
  • Embedded stuff (YouTube, Instagram, etc.): They might track you as if you were visiting their site directly. That’s how embeds work.

Business Listings

We sometimes add businesses using public info from sources like Google, Facebook, or Chamber directories. It’s a common practice and helps people find local gems.

If you’re listed and want something changed or removed, just ask.
We’ll take care of it faster than a boat clearing a no-wake zone.

Email Stuff

If you give us your email or phone number, you might hear from us. We only reach out if:

  • You signed up for updates
  • You claimed or are connected to a listing
  • You requested info, or we already know you

Emails may use basic open or click tracking (that’s just how email tools like HubSpot work). Every message has a one-click unsubscribe link. SMS messages? Just reply “STOP.”

We follow rules like CAN-SPAM and TCPA, because we like doing things right — and also because we don’t want a fine.

GDPR (Because We Have to Say It)

If you’re in the European Union, you have legal rights under the GDPR:

  • The right to know what data we hold
  • The right to ask us to delete it
  • The right to object to how it’s used

If that applies to you, email us at support@lozlocal.com and we’ll take care of it.
We don’t target EU traffic — but if you found us from over there, now you know.

Children’s Privacy

This site isn’t for kids. If you’re under 18, please don’t submit your info. If your kid submitted something, let us know and we’ll delete it.

How Long We Keep Stuff

  • Comments: stay unless you ask us to delete them
  • Listings: stay live as long as they’re useful
  • Emails: get stored in HubSpot so we can reply — but you can unsubscribe any time
  • We don’t keep data we don’t need. We’re not data hoarders.

Your Responsibility

Look — we’re not tracking you across the internet, and we’re not mining your life.
But the truth is, you’re responsible for your own digital privacy.

If you’re worried about data collection in general, the best thing you can do is limit what you share and adjust your browser settings.

I mean… it’s just a policy. Anyone can say whatever they want in these.
Protecting yourself is the only thing that actually works.

Updates

If we change this page, we’ll post the new version right here. That’s all.
